How to Ride the Bus

Ensure you are at your desired stop by checking the bus stop sign posted where you are. Stay out of the street and stand near the bus stop as the bus approaches. Make sure the driver can see you. If you have planned your trip using the Plan My Ride or www.blinetransit.com tools, the bus stop number (#) located at the bottom of the sign should match the number showing on the online tool. Some bus stops are served by more than one route, so please double check the bus's electric sign above the windshield or ask the driver if you are unsure of the route.
Have fare, a pass or transfer ready when you board. The driver cannot provide change. When boarding and before paying your fare, let the driver know if you need a transfer or if you are paying for multiple passengers.

When you see the bus nearing your destination or transfer point, signal to the driver you would like to get off. Please give enough notice so the driver can make a smooth stop.
Depending on the type of bus, press the yellow strip, push the yellow button or pull the cord above the window. The driver will stop at the next bus stop.
If you are not familiar with the area, ask the driver to let you know when the bus is nearing your destination.

Flag stop areas are sections of some bus routes where passengers may board at any safe location, whether or not a bus stop sign is posted. In these areas, it is necessary to signal, or “flag”, the approaching bus that you wish to board. Stay out of the street and wave to the approaching bus to let the driver know you wish to board. The driver will stop where it is safe to do so.
To get off the bus at a flag stop, advise the driver well in advance so they can determine a safe location to stop.
Routes that have flag stop areas are 24, 25, 26, 27 and 41.
